As we have presented for the previous five years, the workshops span many genres of music from Opera to Country, include visual arts and crafts, Japanese sword dancing and indigenous weaving, and indigenous language and song. 

COME ON WE DARE YOU!

Pick 3 workshops from any listed and have the time of your life during the festival weekend. Remember that all workshop attendees and presenters sing in the Massed Choir workshop, as we prepare for our traditional finish to the festival with the Hallelujah Chorus and a quirky take on the opening of Carmina Burana.

1. TAIKO DRUMMING

3. MAKIN’ MOVIES AT MOORAMBILLA   

An operatic journey through the Tunnel of Love with Romeo and Juliet and the Sultans of Swingle via Steven Spielberg, David Lynch and the Lumiere Brothers! Come and relive the 80s and 90s (that’s 1880s and ‘90s!) with Moorambilla Workshop diva Nadia Piave and piano demon Luke Byrne as they guide you through the creation of a musical masterpiece.

4. ARMENIAN MAYHEM  

Love to sing? Love to dance? Want to know more about one of the oldest cultures in the world from one of Moorambilla’s favourite presenters? This workshop is a favourite, come and see why we all love Stephan.

5. MOORAMBILLA MUMMA 
 Get funky, get down and write, sing and groove with the extraordinary talent of Billie McCarthy in Workshop at this years Moorambilla festival. Since the very first year Billie has featured as guest artist and workshop presenter – come and find out why we think she is FABULOUS.

6. TIN THINGS 

Local Coonamble artist Val Hooper and her remarkable daughters will show you the secrets behind these fabulous things made from recycled materials, expect to make something to take home that is a personalised work of art – places strictly limited – materials and laughs provided.

7. NGEMBA WAILWAN ART WORKSHOP 

Come along and learn the colourful art of traditional mark making patterns based on the ancient symbols found on the indigenous scar trees around the Macquarie Marshes. Participants pay $15 fee on the day for materials (cut primed canvas and paint).

8. SAND PAINTING FROM THE RIDGE

Thorungilla Artist Karin Thurston will deliver a workshop on the Local Lightning Ridge Indigenous style of sand painting. Participants pay a $15 for materials on the day – don’t miss this unique opportunity.

9. JUSTIN BEAR – COME ON DOWN COUNTRY 

He’s back!!! Justin one of our favourite presenters and Tamworths favourite Son will help you compose a real country style ballad, even teaching you how to yodel a chorus if necessary!

10. EMU EGG CARVING  

Traditional and contemporary techniques by Coonamble local artist Jos Greenaway. Participants will need to purchase a hand blown egg for $10 on the day to do this class.

11. LATIN AMERICAN PASSION  

New this year! Immerse yourself in the sensational rhythms, harmonies and melodies of Latin American song with leading Sydney choral conductor Margot McLaughlin and her new ensemble El Coro.

12. A TASTE OF GREECE

During these sessions you will learn to sing traditional Greek songs from the beautiful islands and mainland of Greece and experience some of its joyous and festive dancing in a lively 7/8  time. You will also experience the beautiful melodic writing of the popular Greek composer  Mikis Theodorakis.

13. TRADITIONAL  WEAVING 

Due to personal reasons Louise Marne is unable to attend this year's festival.  We are extremely lucky to welcome well known and experienced rgional artist Jude Fleming who will facilitate the traditional weaving workshops......

Always wanted to sing with a FULL symphony orchestra in a HUGE and fabulous choir? Then this is your chance! Excerpts from The Messiah, Carmina Burana and more. All welcome! Go to the website to download your voice part and sing!

FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS:

Work with reknowned facilitator and artist Philip Relf of IKARA to create magnificent fire sculptures for display at the Festival Gala Concert on the Saturday night of the Festival. Workshops commence on Tuesday 20 September. Young, and the young at heart are all welcome to attend. More details on times and venue will be confirmed soon  please contact Row Macrae in September.
