Leichhardt Espresso Chorus
is a non auditioned choir from Sydney’s inner west and
in 2008, the choir celebrates it’s 10th
anniversary. The choir is committed to innovation and
excellence, proudly supporting the commissioning of new
Australian choral works including the Seven Deadly Sins
written by Dan Walker especially for the Deadly
Confessions program in April 2008.
Our anniversary year follows success in 2007 with sell
out performances of Haydn's Nelson Mass, the Australian
premiere performance of ‘You Dead Kings Rising’ written
for the choir by Australian film and orchestral composer
Christopher Gordon, the annual Carols on Norton and
performances at the Festival of Sydney. As choir in
residence with the Moorambilla Festival, the Espresso
Chorus has been instrumental in mentoring the regional
children’s choir and encouraging the formation of other
adult choirs in outback NSW.
